Hi, Lynnanddan.

What color is the blank screen? Black or blue or ?? How soon after power
on do you see this? What do you see before this?

From your first post, we can't tell if this is before or after your
computer's POST (Power On Self Test), or when it starts to load Windows, or
after it loads Windows but before the Desktop appears - or at some other
time. If it is before Windows even starts to load, then the problem has to
be in the computer hardware itself, not in Windows. Please tell us the
sequence of events from the time you turn on the computer until the blank
screen appears.

It might help us to help you if we know the make and model of your
computer - or maybe not.

Hi, Lynnanddan.

Then, as I said, it is NOT a Windows problem. Windows has not even started
to load at that point. You said, "as soon as I turn the computer on", which
I take to mean in less than 5 seconds, and before ANYTHING has appeared on
the screen.

You will need to check your hardware: motherboard, power supply, cables,
graphics card, monitor.... the list is just about endless. Since your first
message mentioned the CD drive, you might want to start by unplugging that.
Is the cable plugged in backwards? What kind of interface: SCSI, USB, IDE?
Is it internal or external? If your computer is under warranty, have the
vendor adjust, repair or replace it.

You can see your computer, but we can't. All we know about it is what
you've told us - which is practically NOTHING! We don't know make or model,
new or old, laptop or desktop...NOTHING about it!

When you Reply to a post here, please check the Include Original box. Then
the prior message will be included, providing some context for your new
message. Otherwise, we have to keep switching back and forth between your
first post and later ones.
