Blank Email Attachments

I'm unable to send attachments in Outlook 2000 to 2 Outlook express clients.
I've
already selected plain text only and block attachments is off on OE. When I
view message source it shows message was sent in plain/text but file shows up
as winmail.dat on one machine and the other doesn't even get the attachment.
There are other OE machines on network that can email attachments to outlook
2000 client with no problem and vice-versa outlook can send to other OE
clients.Any insight would be helpful.

Outlook 2000, if I recall, had trouble with winmail.dat attachments. If
this is when using an Exchange server, see
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=138053 and
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=149203 . I believe that SP3 may also have
addressed some aspect of this. See http://support.microsoft.com/?id=326668
.. Finally, make sure that the contact records for these people aren't
forcing Rich Text formatting even though you've specified Plain Text. Open
the contact record and double-click the recipient's address. At the bottom
should be a drop-down that specifies the mail format, which overrides the
format chosen on the Compose window.
