Blank desktop, no explorer, SP2

Repair Install left XP with embedded SP2 without a desktop. All blue. Task
Manager works upon control,alt,del. The win98se (dual boot) partition finds
no file problems and a virus scan shows nothing.
HELP! I've spent a week on this and my "activation" has expired causing
all kinds of MM (Microsoft Mess).
Have tried all the Win2000 fixes for this problem but none seem to apply
to XP with SP2 --- what am I forgetting?

Since we don't know what the problems were that caused you to do a
Repair Install, I'd have to guess that they weren't solved. Back up
your data and clean-install XP.
