Blank Applications tab.(Windows Task Manager) after installing MSA

Well not completely blank - it's now showing that I'm on
this forum :). But when I'm not online it is completely
blank. I first noticed this just after installing the
antispyware program. The reason I checked the Task
Manager the day after installing was because some icons
(including firewall) in the syst. tray hadn't yet
appeared a couple of minutes after the desktop came on.
So I wanted to see if they were listed as running. The
missing icon problem seems to have resolved itself but I
still have a blank Applications tab. Has anyone else had
this happen, or have a suggestion for repopulating the
Applications tab? TIA

If you are not running build .509 (see Help, about), I'd recommend going
back to the download site and re-downloading this newer build, made
available February 16th. If you are already on that build, I'd recommend
closing down as many third party services and apps as possible, and doing
start, control panel, add or remove programs, microsoft antispyware, change,
update.

This sounds like an issue with the individual installation, and these are
two ways I know to "kick" it (technical term.)

Thanks for replying Bill,
I already was using build .0509 so tried second option.
However the Task Manager Applications tab is still
blank :-(. I guess the next step would be to restore
computer to a pre MSA point?

I don't want to see the whole error.log file, but if you take a look at
error.log in the directory Microsoft Antispyware is installed in--do you see
any lines that appear to indicate problems registering particular OCX or DLL
files?

Some display issues have been tied to problems registering some of the
binaries.

System restore should get this fixed.

It might be interesting to do an SR, verify that the problem is fixed, and
then re-try the Microsoft Antispyware install. You may want to wait for
another code release, though--I sure wouldn't blame you!

Hi Bill. I have done the SR and all is well. I think I
will wait for the next code release. Thanks for your
help.

Glad that went OK. I suspect it will be awhile 'til we see another release,
but it may have more substantial changes than the last refresh did.
