Black screen on reboot

I have an IBM laptop.. Running 2000. I went to
start it and well, the screen is black.. and it beeps..
never starts up.. I tried to get to the BIOS per a reply
(thanks you!) but nothing changed. What should I do?
 
If you cannot get into the BIOS then your motherboard is
probably defective. Take the laptop to your computer
shop and ask them for advice.
