Black Out

My system has mysteriously started closing itself down.
The problem only seems to occur while connected to the internet, and there
is not a specific amount of time it takes (anywhere from 2 minutes to 20
minutes and sometimes not at all), and there is not a specific website that
causes the problem.
While using the keyboard, the screen turns to black. There are no mouse or
keyboard functions, and the only way to restore service is to manually
shutdown and restart.
I use both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox and it happens in both
programs. On Firefox, the program, when reopened, restores to the last known
pages, despite the complete shutdown.
I tried a restore point to a date before the problem surfaced, but without
luck.
Any suggestions on the cause, and more importantly a way to correct the
problem?

Try restoring to an even earlier date if there is one.

What do you mean by "manually shutdown and restart"?

Add as much info as you can about the problem and be specific. You haven't
mentioned an OS, SP level, nothing; no usable info.

Look in Event Viewer and see if there are any Error Messages there. I think
it's highly likely. Report those here.
