If this is a desktop, then find your instruction manual, there should be a
jumper to add/remove that resets the motherboard. Also try removing the
battery for several minutes. If it is a laptop you may have to return it to
the maker to have it reset. Report on the make/model of your system for more
specific advice.

Try microsoft.public.windows.vista.general newsgroup.

PS: Your computer is NOT fully-patched at Windows Update!

If you short the reset pins without removing the bios battery you will short
the battery and cause it to instantly overheat.

Many motherboards have a jumper you switch from pins 1-2 to 2-3.

If you switch the jumper to 2-3 while the battery is in place you will
damage "something". The M/B manual definitely warns against this practice.

And, a shorted battery will *instantly* overheat, maybe even to the point
where it may explode! This is a "safety" over sight and you should
definitely warn against the practice!

<grin> I did it once by accident (exploded a battery). I wiped out 2
capacitors that were close by and destroyed the motherboard. It is a lesson
not easy to forget.
