Thanks in advance for any answers to this question. I have been trying to
start up my pc for over a hour and I have not been able to do anything but
start it up in safe mode. Whenever I try to log on to my profile or the 3
others that are on the system, it goes as far as the desktop and just hangs
there forever! But in safe mode i can get to everything.

I have no idea what is wrong since I was on the pc last night and everything
ran fine.

I can't get my computer past the Microsoft XP start up logo. I don't know
what's wrong with it. It seems to have been this way since an Automatic
Update. What do I do??? I can only log on thru safe mode

The OS is Microsoft XP. The night before the problem Automatic Update
downloaded something, which I thought was going to be helpful. It turned
out, however, that whatever it downloaded was harmful to the computer. For
one week, exactly, I could only log on through safe mode. When I attempted
to log on through regular mode, the computer never went past the Windows XP
screen. After a week, I was able to log in the regular way. When I logged
off, the auto update started again, leaving my computer in the same disabled
condition. Now, I'm still unable to log on the regular way, and I can't use
any of the features. What do you think? I'm not computer savvy at all, so I
know nothing about how to fix or diagnose this issue.

This is the wrong group for your issues! You should post your problem to
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general. There will be lots of people happy to
help you there.
