Big Midi Problem

I would really like some help from anyone who knows what
to do here.

I have windoes xp pro, about a month or two ago my midis
stoped playing, i had used other software synth's as be
default player but both yamaha and microsoft wavetable
synth dont make sound, a file will move like its being
played but theres no sound, I was told that it might have
been becuase I had removed other programs that I might be
missing drivers. Iv'e done everything I could to fix this
problen, checked volume settings, device settings, looked
for drivers or websites that could help, but nothing. I
had downloaded wingroove and set that as a defualt player
but it sounds crappy.

Basicly I need to make it so the microsoft wave table can
play midis, if anyone knows somthing or know someone who
might I would really appriciate the help.

Please email me at adress above.
And a foward thanks to anyone who does contact me.

Oh, dear ! What is the make of your soundcard ?

Un-install it, then re-boot. Install new drivers making sure they are for XP
and not Me/98. You may have already tried this, but ... : Start > Control
Panel > Sound & Audio Devices > Audio Tab > make sure you have a default
device selected for Audio and Midi. If you don't, then select one > Apply >
OK and re-boot.

I don't know if you've resolved your MIDI problem yet,
but if not, here is how I did it (sort of).

The WinXP wavetable needs the MPU 401 driver to be
installed, which comes with windows under the "sound"
or "multimedia" category. It's among the hardware
drivers. Once I installed it, I could play MIDI songs
thru Windows Media Player, etc.

The problem that still remains is that MPU 401 wants to
use IRQ 9 by default, which is shared by WinXP's ACPI
driver (which cannot be moved). Although I can still play
MIDI while this conflict exists, the quality is not as
good as it would be through the MPU 401 driver.
