Beta Download

Randle J. Bowling

I downloaded the beta software and ran a scan. In the
scan I, also, deleted the windows system 32 sporder.dll
which was suppose to be a severe threat. Now I can't
access the internet, it has disengaged my McAfee privacy
service, and system restore is unable to restore.
I do not have my start page either and I keep getting
warnings about the MPFSERVICE.EXE is unable to locate
components, this application has failed to start because
SPORDER.dll was not found, reinstalling the application
might help, mscifapp.exe, can not be found components
missing, also please reinstall your mcafee privacy
service, components missing. Please help me. When I
called Microsoft today, they told me that they don't have
a support team for beta spyware, and that I would have to
access this newsgroup to troupleshoot. Meanwhile, I am
out a computer with internet, which I desperately need for
my job and school. Please help me. Please send a copy to
my email at (e-mail address removed) Thank you...

Please keep replies in the newsgroups, so that all can learn from them.

Please use one of these two methods to restore your Internet connectivity:
(use #2 if you are on Windows XP Service Pack 2)

1) (winsock reset for 2k, xp pre sp2, and 2003 pre sp1)

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;817571

2) (Winsock reset for xpsp2)

netsh winsock reset

enter
restart machine.

Once you've restored Winsock, you will need to reinstall whatever
applications have been disrupted by the removal of sporder.dll--in your
case, the McAfee privacy service.

Those two steps should get you back to your usual state, but minus any other
spyware that was found and removed.
