my partner works for a small GP surgery. They have just had a new pc system
that uses windows xp.can anyone advise on this please.once she is in the
system if she does not use it for a period of 5mins it appears she gets timed
out and has to log in again with her password etc.i think it's some sort of
security measure but the time must be able to be extended as its rediculous
having to log in every 5mins.

Sounds like it's the screensaver coming on and then you have to log back on.

Depending on your version of WinXP:-

Right click on the desk top, select properties, select Screen Saver Tab.
Uncheck "On resume, display welcome screen."
or
Uncheck "On resume, password protect"

Or you can lengthen the time for the time out.
