BCM File error when importing corrupt file

I have a bcm file which will load into Business Contact Manager up to contact
261 then reports an error. Is there a repair utility for these files? or a
way to fix this file?

BCM files are XML files which means they are text files and can be
editted a simple text editor, like notepad. The error message in the
import log should give a good indication of the where the error is. If
you cannot figure out what the exact nature of the error is, you can
delete that record from the file by removing that node in the XML.

That was very helpful as microsoft support didnt even tell me that after
they couldnt help me....I opened and can read the xml file. now where can i
find the log file? i have a record 261 that it ahngs on so this is just raw
data with tage so i may have to count each contact...any ideas? and what
might cause an error that would prevent an import?

Well i have had additional success today.....I converted the file to the xml
and read the contents...almost 8 Million lines of txt. One of the company
users had his name
in the contact list and every email that he was sent was copied to the bcm
file.
I suspect that this is probably an import Timeout issue as the number of
emails went from LIne 937213 to 4715722. a big chunk. I then did a search
for "<contact>" and counted up to 261 entries and found his name and proceded
to delete everthing from that point to the next instance of <contact>. it is
a difficult process to delete that much text in one fell swoop but i got it
done in chunks.
I then saved the file back to .bcm and started the import and its going past
561 contacts. I did get a log after the import and the contents were calender
events which did not import for some reason ...maybe 15 that were not
important.
I will send a message to the help desk in India so they have an answer fro
this next time.
