Well, for starters, try putting QB on your computer. Should be able to
download it. I think Qbasic 4.5 had an improved GUI where you coudl
make an EXE file. So, maybe try to get that one.

Try it, QB seems to start from a command prompt. (I have it stored in a
progs directory)

You could boot from a Win98 boot disk, then , no probs. If you have a
FAT32 HDD partition then even better.

Why don't you try it? You're not the man you were 12 years ago!

By the way. Downloading qbasic might be - technically - illegal Though
I really don't think bill gates could care less if somebody copied
that. THe only thing that might bother him is that you're not moving
with the times!

I wrote a BASIC program many years ago and it still runs using GWBASIC on my XP
Home.

I'm using a BASIC program I wrote in the early 80s. Create a folder, [in my
case "Checking"], load basic.com and basic.exe, the program and a.bat file
to start BASIC and load the program. I created a shortcut to the .bat file,
and use the program several times a week, storing my checking account data
back to the 80s.

Why not if he runs GWBASIC.EXE interpreter on the PC.

Then it will just depend on the functionality of the .BAS code.

GWBASIC may very well work. The functionality, as you say, would depend on
the .BAS file.

For example; Those that are written to specifically access the hardware.
