Have an HP LaserJet 1100 (primary printer) connected to LPT1 and a Canon
Pixma iP4000 to LPT2. If I use the HP first after starting the cumputer, I
can't use the Pixma unless I restart. Then the Pixma works fine until I use
the HP again. The Pixma returns a "not responding" error message if used
after the HP. It is a Gateway computer running XP. What's going on?

Since almost no computers come with two parallel ports, where did LPT2 come
from?

Thanks Steve - your note helped me dredge from memory the fact that I robbed
the second port from another machine. I connected the Pixma to a USB port
instead. All is well!
