when i was working my system shutted off without any
warning & then restarted and asked to enter bootable disk
in the CD ROM and then i tried to reinstall windows XP
Professional & it showed only one unformatted
drive ,instead of 5.Then i took my hard disk to my
friend and tried to format it with Partition magic
software ,But it failed to format with an error message
saying Bad MBR.Please suggest me the method to rewrite
Master Boot Record at (e-mail address removed).

This really is not a question that is appropriate for this forum, but you
might try a low level format, if your MBR is corrupt, or buy a new hard
disk.

Try booting to a DOS boot floppy and type "fdisk /mbr" at the command
prompt.

try running DISKPART from WinPE.

The select you disk
then run CLEAN

This cleans the MBR.
