Backup Utilty and Home Edition

The backup utility is not installed by default in the Home
Edition. I can install it manually, but does anyone know
if it really works or should I get a third party
application to handle backups and drive imaging. Why
wouldn't it have been part of the default installation?
Thanks.

MS simply decided not to install it by default with XP home. XP
professional, on the other hand, does install it by default. There is
certainly no alterior motive for it not being installed by default. Many
people do use the backup utility and have found it more than adequate for
the job. Personally, however, i much prefer to 'image' the whole drive using
Powerquest's (now symantec) Drive Image
