NTbackup

I have Windows XP Home Service Pack 2.
I was installing the backup tool from "CD-ROM Drive:\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP"
when I realized the "readme" file said that the BACKUP tool will appear to
work but won't really work if NTbackup is installed on XP Home edition when
trying to RESTORE the system from the backup created with the tool.
Is this true?
Why is the backup utility even on teh CD to be installed then? If it doesn't
work... :(
Thank you for any clarification on this matter.
Here is a copy of the readme file that is in teh same folderas the install
for the backup utility (NTbackup):

"NTBackup Backup/Restore and ASR release notes

Backup/Restore

ASR

1. ASR is not supported on home edition.

IF you install NtBackup from the CD to the Home Edition, ASR functionality
will appear to work fine during
the backup session. Since the setup does not support ASR in the home
edition, there is no way to initiate
the ASR restore in case of a disaster. If you need to restore from this
session, install Windows XP manually
and then restore from the ASR media.

2. Backup to CDRW

If you decide to backup to a CDRW, you cannot target that device directly.
You must create a backup set of
650MB or less and backup to a file. After the file is complete, copy the
file to the CDRW.

Please refer to the readme for XP home edition for additional notes."

While NtBackup is not useful on XP Home Edition for ASR bare metal restore it
is still very useful for backing up to a network, or internal or external
hard drive. NtBackup allows an existing XP home system to be restored from a
network or hard drive but does require re-installing Windows first and then
running the NtBackup program to perform the restore over top of the new
installation.

NtBackup can be use for bare metal restore on XP Home Edition when booting
from RescueBoot or BartsPE to do the backup and restore. By using RescueBoot
or BartsPE you are not required to re-install Windows before doing the
restore.
