Article ID: 320820 on Microsoft Help and Support describes how to use the
Backup utility "that is included with a default installation of Windows XP,
but not with a default installation of Windows XP Home Edition." All goes
according to the instructions when I run the utility in XP MCE 05. Can I take
this to mean that the Backup Utility is both a) included and b) functions, in
XP MCE 05 as it would in the XP "default installation"?

I wouldn't use it. I'd use something like CDBurnerXP, a freeware that
you can download. If I recall correctly from reading in these groups,
the backup is not installed in Home, and might be on the CD. XP MCE is
XP PRO with a little fluff. You might look on the Install CD for the
backup if you are set on using it. That or download a 3rd party app.

I have MCE 05 and the backup program did install by default. You should
be able to find it at Start-->All Programs-->Accessories-->System Tools.
It works, but there are better programs available.
