Are there any programs that will scan your computer
programs for information/data that you have put in and
place that data along with its location on a backup disk?
I can back up individual files but I always feel like i'm
missing something. I also have had a hard time with some
programs when putting data back from the disk.

Thanks

Any backup app will only backup what youve set it to do
Not all backup apps have the ability to backup to cdr
Other than that they will all do what you require

No quite so. I once invested in Winbackup which was supposed to and in fact did
write the backup to a CD. Trouble was that it did not take any notice of System
State which is essential for a proper restore. Fortunately I am a belt and
braces man so I had the MS backup on hand. That restored all the connections to
the installed programs on drive D:

Backing up the sys, for use in a full restore/reinstall is a different
process and is usually best/easiest accomplished with a specific app eg
Ghost etc
