Old tax files are unobtainable b/c I cannot get the
backup program to work so I can restore or open these
old .bkf files.

I've tried three times to use CONTROL PANEL and the ADD
WINDOWS COMPONENTS and clicked on the option for
ACCESSORIES. However, using the XP install disk and
subsequent reboots find no change. ACCESSORIES doesn't
include BACKUP as an option.

Hi Mark,

Nt backup is not installed by default in a WinXP Home system, you may need
to add it:

If your system was preinstalled (Home or Pro, makes no difference) , the
manufacturer may have chosen not to include this value-add program. If this
is the case, you need to contact the system manufacturer and complain.

Hi!
Backup utility is not included in the default installation of Windows XP
Home Edition. No Backup icon is present on the Start menu in Windows XP
Home Edition, nor is Backup listed in Add Remove Programs for Windows XP
Home edition. No mention of the utility is made anywhere during the
installation, but it is included with Windows XP Home Edition. It's just
necessary to do a manual install to prepare it for use.

To Manually Install the Backup Utility:-

Insert the CD Rom and navigate to CD-ROM Drive:\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP

Double-click the Ntbackup.msi file to start the wizard that installs Backup

When the wizard is complete, click Finish.
