BackUp MyPC vers 5.0 Upgrade: Will this work in WinXP HE?

Hi,

I have a new eMachine with a partitioned HD system, a
replacement for one that completely failed. Fortunately I
backed up the failed system with BackUp MyPC from Stomp,
Inc. The eMachine came with Windows XP HE. The previous
machine had Windows 2000 Pro. I installed BackUp MyPC on
the Win2K partition and was able to transfer all old files
onto the new computer.

I then decided to put BackUp MyPC on the WinXP partition.
That seemed to load OK, but I figured I probably should
have the latest download from Stomp, Inc, which turned out
to be vers 5. After downloading and installing it my
system hung when I tried to open the newly updated BUmyPC
5.0. I was unable to shut down without pulling the plug,
so I uninstalled BackUp MyPC from both partitions thinking
there may be a conflict having a copy on both OSes. Then
I reinstalled BUmyPC onto the WinXP partition with the 5.0
download. Again my system hung with Event ID error 7023.
Apparently I'll have to use the BUmyPC vers 4.71.

My question is: "Has anyone that uses BackUp MyPC been
able to get the Version 5.0 download to work in WinXP HE?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Best regards,

Wally

Hi Kateri,

Thank you for your reply.

Please tell me if you have the CD for your BUmyPC 5 Deluxe
or whether you downloaded it. I was considering buying
the boxed product, but not if there are issues that might
make it unusable on my computer. I have to assume that
you downloaded it, since that was my question. Is that
correct?

On download or CD:

At some time in the very distant past, I had a CD. (I've used the
program and its Veritas predecessors for years.)

All of these were downloads:
version 471
version 481
version 485
version 50
