My laptop come with 3 disk that were a backup or restore the computer.
Trouble is it wipes everthing. I would like to be able to extract the files
so I can use them without wiping the disk. Is there such a program?
The files are image.gho
tnx

If you have backup Ghost image files then you should have the Ghost
utility on your computer in order to restore the programs. Norton
Ghost 2003 does have a File Explorer to extract individual files. You
may be able to download a trial version to try.

Why would you want to restore select files if the backup image is of a
virgin installation?

Well I have another option .
Trash the 3 disk and use another (legal) copy of win xp and use the drivers
I downloaded
from the makers site. Works great. No more unwanted junk..
I was able to part. the drive and now have a better system.
Thanks for the reply..

Sounds like he has a Toshiba Satellite like I do.

My CD-ROM/DVD Drive took a dump and has to re-install with the three
CD disks. (I think I booted holding the "C" key down and it
recognized the drive for the re-install.)

Later, I took a fresh copy of WinXP and loaded it but I still haven't
found out how to implement the buttons along the top of the keyboard
and I can't seem to get the numeric keypad keys to work or any of the
special keys Toshiba puts on the machine when you buy it.

Lucky I didn't need those functions, anyway. I had to find and load
separately the driver for the touch-pad, and some other things that XP
didn't recognize. It's been a while and I forgot all the problems.
I've forgotten what they were now.

Why "legal"? You have a valid Windows licence. Maybe you can borrow a CD
and do a repair installation. Whatever serial number is written onto
your hard disc, keep your original (paper) licence and number.

Thanks
