BACKUP Failure due to media stuff :-(

system : XP-pro
machine: Centrino 2Ghz,2Ghz, 2Gb RAM.
backup drive: external 80Gb harddrive via USB.

the problem: After using the backup utility to back up my internal hard
drive to an external one using the <Normal type> of backup , and choosing all
folder and settings except <my document> folder. the process was interrupted
and failed giving out the following report:

The report says that portions of the folder
"\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\" could not be read.
Your first step is to confirm this error message by using My
Computer to copy the above folder to some other location on
your internal disk.
