Firstly I apologise for using the wrong forum but I cannot an answer
eleswhere.Laptop has failed
and I want to recover/save Microsoft Outlook email settings and address
book.I can connect the laptop HD to my desktop using USB
connection.I use outlook express as my default on the desktop and I thought
if I set up outlook as well I could import
from other drive.Laptop only has work email settings and I want to have a
back up as When it goes for repair
I'm concerned it will get formatted as well. Thanks in advance.

EMail settings are stored in the registry and as such not recoverable
excepting with Save My Settings Wizard or third party utilities
Email/Contacts data stored in a *.pst file, by default Outlook.pst, this is
a hidden file.
Do NOT import, copy any pst to your hd, any location, do NOT overwrite any
existing pst's, then within OL File>Open>Data File....browse to location.
