Back-up to an external hard drive.

Is it possible to make a mirror image of the internal
hard drive to an external hard drive. My internal hard
drive is making clicking noises and I believe is getting
ready to crash. I also have an external hard
drive "western digital" that is larger than the internal
drive.

I'd like to be able to boot from the external if the
internal crashes.

Thanks

Yes. And you're correct, you're internal is ready to die.

Norton Ghost.

That might be problematic. Have a look in your BIOS and see what options
there are. I'd recommend just going and buying a new internal disk now
before it fails.

Drive Image 7. It allows you to make your backups in Windows mode, rather than
DOS. The recovery CD which comes with the program is bootable.

I use mine to back up to an external hard drive via USB port once a week. The
external hard drive is disconnected and turned off the rest of the time so any
possible meltdown is isolated.
