I'll have my complete windows xp and data files backup up on a USB hard
drive.
Where can I find a freeware boot disk to help me in put windows xp and
data files as a recovery to a crashed C: drive?
....
Recovering the Windows and data files wouldn't be enough,
you also need the registry, Program Files, etc.
If you actually backed up your complete C: partition instead
of just the Windows and data files, how did you do it? Didn't
your backup program offer (probably,. more like strongly
recommend) the option of creating an emergency boot CD,
and do you recall if you did it (some of us tend to create the
thing and then store it away to be forgotten)? Even if you
didn't create one, your backup program's manufacturer may
let you download (to whatever computer you're asking your
question on) the data you need to create an emergency
boot CD now. For free.
Please tell us more about how you backed up, and just what
you backed up.
