i bought my laptop which came with windows xp home edition installed but as
usual there was no disc included my computer will no longer boot up and asks
for the boot disc. is there a boot disc that i can download from somewhere.
Google Knoppix boot disk. Download the .iso image and burn it to CD. Boot
the machine with the Knoppix disk and copy all of your data onto a USB hard
drive. Once your data is safe, restore the machine from the hidden recovery
partition (follow the instruction manual) Once restored, use Acronis True
Image to make an image of your system to the USB hard drive.
In the future, if your hard drive fails, it will take the recovery partition
with it. Since you don't have a recovery disk or an XP install disk, you will
no longer have a way to reinstall your operating system. With the Acronis
image, simply replace the failed hard drive and reinstall your system from
the image to the new hard drive. You'll be back in business in less than an
hour.
