Back up copy of XP in hard drive?

Does anyone know how to access the copy of Windows XP that is hidden behind a
partition in the hard drive? I do not have a back up copy of Windows XP for
my mom's computer and it appears that SP2 has royally screwed it up. We have
tried all the obvious fixes and nothing helps. Any advice would be
appreciated.

The manufacturer is HP...are you suggesting that someone at HP would be able
to tell me? I did not see any reference to it in the manual.

When you first turn on the computer hit F10 at the first screen. that should
take you to system recovery.
