AVG vs anti-spyware

Has anybody else had problems with free AVG ver. 7 and anti-spyware
software? I've used AVG free for years now and really like the way its
e-mail scanner module works with all the email software I've tried.
However, for the past week or so, AVG, which updates itself daily, has
started conflicting with the anti-spyware software software I have
installed, Ad-Aware, Spybot S & D, MS Antispyware, and Counterspy.
Whenever I run any of them, AVG starts popping up virus warnings -- just
for the last week or so. Then, when I ask it to do something about the
virus, it freezes.

Thanks!

I use paid AVG 7, adaware and spybot. I don't have those problems.
Try uninstalling MS antispy and counterspy, see if you still have
the problem.

==== I have AVG,AdAware,Spybot, MS Anti-spyware , and have had no

makes me think it's CounterSpy ......... I've never heard of it, so I'm
wondering
how good it could be ================

Hi,

Has anybody else had problems with free AVG ver. 7 and anti-spyware
software? I've used AVG free for years now and really like the way its
e-mail scanner module works with all the email software I've tried.

Have been using AVG ver. 7 with Spybot, Adaware and Spyblaster. All
these and my mail reader work without problems only when I disable the
Email scanner of AVG. The moment I turn on the Email scanner, I'm unable
to run my mail reader.

In addition, I have the Outpost firewall and Avast antivirus also
running without problems with AVG email scanner disabled.

I know this might not be much of a help to you, but I'm hoping somebody
else will also come up with solutions on how to run all these and the
AVG email scanner without conflicts ....

I believe the Sunbelt Software Counterspy is a licensed and slightly
skinned version of the Giant Antispyware that M$ bought and released as
Microsoft Antispyware. Assuming I'm correct, you'd essentially be
running two instances of the same antispyware app at the same time.
Don't know if that would explain your problem, but it sounds like a
conflict waiting to happen.

Few days ago I using Ad-aware and Spybot to troubleshoot a AVG (latest
version) installed system. No problem whatsoever.

I think you try to download the latest version of AVG, remember to
unsinstall the old one.

Are you certain it's due to the use of MS antispyware etc? Disable those
software, and see what happens.

Not really freeware, but Counterspy has access to Giant's (now MS
antispyware's) signature base, plus its own.
