AVG not free?

When my PC was built, a install file for AVG was left on it. I just ran it
and it asks for a S/N

The AVG website does not indicate a free version.

Is this correct?

Hi Mike Delete that AVG install from your system, `cos it sounds
like the buy it version.
Then go here and D\load the free one at the Bottom of the page.

The AVG site I use certainly does.

Go to http://www.grisoft.com/; click on "AVG Products" on the
left; the 7th or 8th one in the drop-down menu that appears is
"AVG Free Edition".

I suspect your install file was for one of their Pro/SOHO/Network
products.

Thanks, up to now hadn't used AVG.
