AVG grey icon

Following advice on this forum I have disabled my AVG email scanner, but now
the Taskbar icon is permanently grey instead of just when new updates are
available, the notification of which is obviously very important. Is there
any way round this? I use Win98SE so no Windows pop-up balloons appear.

I've found the answer! Just check the "Ignore plugin status" option.

I think you should follow the advice about using another e-mail program.
