Using new AVG Version 7.0.289 and Outlook Express SP2
If I turn on email scanning (default) I keep geting in a loop of AVG Box
coming up saying "Email Scanner,Auto Pop 3 connecting to server
38myhostingcompany.com and then a box will pop up asking for user name and
Pass word for that account. I enter it and again the AVG box comes up and
it repeats all over again I get this error...
"There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your User Name was
rejected. Account: '(e-mail address removed), Server: 'mail.mydomain.com', Protocol:
POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Cannot connect to the host', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91"
Thanks for any help

Same experience here, but with a different news- and mail-client. What
version of Personal E-Mail Scanner do you run? Probably 286 which comes
with the update to AVG 7.0.289 if I'm right. I went back to AVG 7.0.280
which puts the Scanner back to version 279. Now everything is fine
again. I ignore all recommended and optional updates (which include
Scanner version 286), just apply the virus database updates, and wait
for a new Scanner version.

Eckhardt,

How did you revert to 7.0.280?

Uninstall AVG and re-install it?

Before I do a major AVG update (more than just the virus database) I
backup the whole AVG folder which I restore in case of trouble.

By the way, I do this for every major update of any important software
I use. In addtition, I backup systemroot and/or registry, if I can't be
sure changes will take place here, too. For AVG, backing up the
installation folder is sufficient.
