I want an autotext entry to automatically change to the font of the document
in which I am inserting it.

Don't include any paragraph marks in the AutoText entry or make sure that
your AutoText entry is formatted simply using styles that are commonly used
in your documents.

Thanks, but the problem I have is that I use the same autotexts (addresses)
in letters/templates with different fonts so paragraph marks are necessary.
The number of addresses I use is fairly large and to change the font and
resave each address for each template would be a longwinded exercise. I
notice that if I use any of the autotexts which are pre-supplied with WORD
they do automatically change font to that which I am currently using but they
do not contain any paragraph marks so this is probably the reason why. Any
other ideas?

Create styles based on normal or body text styles to hold your entries.

Use those same styles in your templates which will form the basis for the
documents into which you will be inserting the entries. Make sure that your
style definitions for the templates include the font settings you want.

You are welcome. While styles seem like a lot of trouble for the
uninitiated, once you learn how they work and put them to work for you,
you'll wonder how you ever got along without them and why you waited so
long. (I know I did.)
