autotext entry cannot be changed or deleted

I am trying to change an autotext entry. I change it and it's OK while I
stay in that document. But when I exit Word and then go back in, the old
autotext is back the way it was and the new one is gone.

It sounds as if your Normal.dot is not being saved. Use Shift+File | Save
All to force a save, then investigate why it's not being saved when you exit
Word (often caused by interference from an add-in).
