AutoPlay does not work

Some how I have killed AutoPlay on my desktop and laptop computers. I am
running XP Home. I have tried setting properties for various media on my
removable disks and cannot make any thing start when the disk is inserted.
This goes for the camera also. This may have started from installing Norton
Internet Security 2007, but I am not sure of that. This makes me feel really
stupid. Any ideas are much appreciated.

Some MSoft people have written an unofficial program to fix problems with
Autoplay. As such it is not on a Microsoft site, but it can be found at
Http://www.bigblackglasses.com/staff/downloads/autofix.exe

Thanks a whole lot for this recommendation.

It solved a problem I had been fighting with for quite some weeks,
killing many nights, quite some hair on my poor old head and ruined a
pile of recordable media of all sort.

On one of my 3 computers the "CD burning wizard" (IMAPI) did not want
to work anymore because it did not recognize the recordable media.
Out of pure luck I stumbled over this therad, download Autofix and let
it run.
And now things are back to normal.

Well that's surprising that it fixed the IMAPI issue. Thanks for posting
back.

For sure surprising.
But not too strange IMO as my problem obviously had to do with
recognition of the media on insreting.
Thanks for posting back.

Only too natural to give feedback.

Thanks a gain.
You save some rest of the hair on my old head ;-)
