Automatic Updates Problems

epigram

I've got my XP Pro SP2 PCs here at work setup to automatically update in the
early morning hours. Everyone here logs out, but does not turn their PC
off. This seems to have worked fine, except for two recent issues:

1) MS released something called, I believe, the malicous software removal
tool. That update did not download and install automatically. Instead, the
"yellow shield" showed up at some point telling the user that this udpate
was available.

2) MS released about 10 or so critical updates earlier this week. On almost
all of my PCs, these updates never downloaded and installed automatially.
On a few it did. I could find no pattern to explain why this was the case.
I set up all the PCs the same way and all have SP2. The XP firewall
(introduced by SP2) is setup via a group policy on my SBS 2003 server. So,
this doesn't seem to be a factor either.

Any ideas on what could be causing this would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

1) The malicous software removal is not listed and will always be ran
during the Auto Updates. People have also suggested that it will run every
month, during MS's patching day (aks Patch Tuesday??)
