For weeks now, now, "software distribution service 3.0" shows up 3 times a
day in my Restore Points window, indicating a failure to download and
install, I think. I have tried several times to manually download "Windows
Installer 3.1," with no success. I get the message "The following updates
were not installed: Windows Installer 3.1" Suggestions please.

Windows XP-Professional
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600
