automatic timed user log out when not used

can anyone tell me how to stop my computer logging me out of my account and
returning to the welcome login screen when i leave it for 10 minutes without
using keyboard or mouse - irritating having to keep plugging in my login
password but i need to retain it to stop the kids messing up my work.

Go to the desktop
Right click
Select properties
Click the Screen Saver tab
Untick the option to ask for a password on resume

thinking it had to do with hibernate mode but it doesn't. Much appreciated!
