automatic login to different domain

I just started deployed XP Pro machines to our W2K server-
based domain. Our company is on a different domain than
our sister company, but we map to shares on each others'
networks via an interwan.

In W2K Pro, the user is prompted to supply the password
for the remote network drive mapping upon login to our
domain. I've noticed on the XP Pro machines, they are not
automatically prompted to login to complete that drive
mapping, though they do receive a message that not all
drives were connected. They can then go into My Computer
and click on the drive, where they are then prompted for
the password.

Does anyone know if the prompt during login is possible to
regain instead of having to manually do so?

Thanks in advance for any assistance/clarification.

do these two domains trust each other?

No they are not set up that way. But, as I said, this
appears to simply be a function of XP, as our W2K machines
prompt for pwd's for the connection. And again, they can
connect via clicking on the disconnected share in My
Computer.
