Autoformat telephone numbers in Contacts

An older version of Outlook would autoformat telephone numbers in Contacts as
you enter it. In other words, I could just enter all the numbers and it
would autoformat to parenthesis around the area code and separate the last
four numbers by a dash.

All versions of Outlook do this as long as you have your dialing
location set for your operating system.

I'm sorry, but I don't know how to get the phone number to automatically
format into the (xxx) xxx-xxxx form while using my broadband connection. Can
you be more specific?
Thanks,
Jim

You did not mention your operating system.
In most, it will be in Control Panel > Phone and Modem options...
