How do I eliminate the autoformatting of parenthesis in phone #s

Outlook 2007 autoformats phone numbers with parenthesis around area codes.
The parenthesis are transferred to my Blackberry when I synchronize. The
Blackberry doesn't dial the phone numbers correctly with parenthesis.

How do I eliminate the autoformatting of parenthesis in phone numbers?

the only way is to remove the dialing properties in Windows Control panel,
modem settings. However, windows usually doesn't allow you to remove it once
it's set. Because parens are traditional for area code formatting, I'm
surprised the blackberry doesn't recognize them.
