On a friend's PC....
When typing in a URL, it has been previously only necessary to type in
(e.g.) mgi.com and the autocomplete mechanism would add the http://www. This
feature seems to have stopped working, and the full URL must now be entered.
Autocomplete settings has a check against the correct box to include web
addresses, and there is good, up to date A/V and A/Spyware software installed.

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, "Internet Options"

Click the "Advanced" tab. Scroll down to "Browsing", uncheck "Use Inline Autocomplete for Web
Addresses" and uncheck "Use Inline Autocomplete for Windows Explorer"

Click "Content" tab, under the "Personal Information" section, click the "AutoComplete" button,
check all the options.
It's possible the data became corrupt and you need to clear the stored data and start over, so
click the "Auto Complete History", and the "Clear Forms" buttons.

Right click RepairDefaultPrefix.reg and select Merge.

Or to do it manually.

To reset the WWW prefix settings, follow the instructions below, which
include minor modifications to the registry.

1. Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run. (The
Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor
will open.)
2. Browse to the key:
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\
Prefixes\'. If this registry key does not exist, the web browser will use
the Default Prefix.
3. In the right pane, right-click the 'www' value and modify its data to
'http://'
4. In the right pane, delete the value called 'www.', if it exists.
5. Exit the registry editor.
6. Close all Internet Explorer browsers.
7. Your browser should now have the default WWW prefix, and you can verify
this by entering www.kephyr.com in the Internet Explorer address field. The
domain name should be replaced with the http://www.kephyr.com/ URL.
