Autocomplete in address line

I can't get the Address line in my browser to accept a
URL address unless it has the "http://" before it. I
have auto complete turned on. It used to work fine but
stopped a few days ago. It won't do anything if I type in
www.microsoft.com (or similar). It will accept
http://www.microsoft.com. (But it's a pain typing in
http:// each time. Solution????
 
This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware, parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
