Hello everybody.
I have a strange problem with my machine (Windows XP
Professional). When I try to manually perform a CHKDSK /F
of the C: disk I am asked if I want to schedule it to run
at the next restart. So far so good: I click yes and
restart, but nothing happens.
I checked the
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\BootExecute" registry entry, it contains the proper
commands (i.e. "autocheck autochk /p \??\C:"), but it seems
to be completely ignored. It is so thoroughly ignored that
after a restart the line is still there.
Running CHKDSK from a recovery console works, though.
I have no idea: other people seem to have the opposite
problem, that is CHKDSK running at every reboot. I can't
find any mention of anything like what I'm experiencing.
Thanks a lot for any help you can give me.
Regards,
Roberto
