Two Related Questions:

What happens to the files in .pst over time? Do the archived folders
continue to grow with each new item?

When I set my Inbox to autoarchive items older than 6 months, does that mean
that items in my Inbox will move to the achived folder when they reach the
age of 6 months or are they removed from the archived folder at the end of
the 6 months?

They're moved to the archive PST when they reach the age of six months.

Yes.

It means that your Inbox items will be moved to the archive folder when
their modification date is older than six months.
