Auto Select?

I have accidentally enabled something that allows all the text behind the
cursor to be "selected" automatically. This is in effect even when I am
trying to open documents - it opens the doc I choose and all the ones before
it.

How do I disable this function? (Word, 2003)

Check the Editing Options, specifically "Use Smart Paragraph Selection" and
"When selecting, automatcially select entire word" found under Tools,
Options, Edit dialog.
