When I empty the Deleted Items Folder, Outlook 2002
(Office XP) automatically sends replys to the originating
senders notifying them that their email has been deleted
and unread, etc.

How can I stop this? Thanks in advance for your help!

You can't. Actually, the receipt is sent saying you deleted without
reading once you delete the item from the active folder. Emptying the
deleted items has nothing to do with it.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
