auto play pictures on CD

Windows XP Pro used to play a slide show when I put a cd in with pictures.
A menu would come up first. It won't do it now, anyone have knowledge that
will enable that feature. Can't figure out why it quit.

Before using the Auto Play Repair Wizard, you can try this one:

1. Goto My Computer
2. Right-Click on your CD Drive
3. Choose Properties
4. Click Auto Play tab.
5. Select a content type whom auto contents you want to set and select an
action.

May be "Take no action" has been set for "Pictures" that is why you are not
seeing anything after inserting a Picture CD.

If that doesn't work then try reparing "Auto Play" wizard from following link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...B6-E8FA-45C4-A171-1B389CFACDAD&displaylang=en

Let us know.

I put in a music cd and it played auto, I put in a DVD and according to your
directions, it had "take no action" which I corrected, but for the pictures
it says play slide show, but it doesn't. I have created these slide shows
before with Roxio 7 and they worked, but now doesn't--supppose I did
something wrong?

I resized the pictures, still the same. I have the menu coming up now, but
when I choose slide show, nothing. Should I do the auto repair wizard?

If you have some pictures in a folder on the hard drive, go to that
folder and try clicking on 'view as slideshow' in the picture Tasks
panel on the left side of the screen. If that works, try browsing to
the cd through My Computer and try it again to see if it works manually
or not.

I'm wondering if there is something wrong with autoplay...or just
viewing slideshows in general. I would also try the disk on a different
pc to see if the disk works there.

The autoplay repair wizard wouldnt hurt anything, so it's worth a
shot..although, with the new info, I'm not convinced it is an autoplay
problem

I put the cd in a laptop and it played automatically. On this computer going
to "my computer" then E:/ and "view as slideshow" also works (manually).
But it doesn't come up automatically anymore (it used to). I now get the
menu and I choose "view as slide show," but it won't work -- command doesn't
respond. I have downloaded the CD autofix, but not run it, should I? It
won't cause something else to stop working?

I appreciate your help.

I came accross this problem recently, and the problem seems to
reside in registry entries connecting the View As Slideshow autoplay
function and the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. The following registry

fix may work for you; it has been used on Windows XP SP2/Pro.

First, copy and paste the .reg file at the bottom of this message
into notepad and save onto your desktop as slideshowfix.reg .

Then, make a system restore point by going to
"Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore"
and choosing 'Create a restore point'. Then, click on 'Next',
enter a name (e.g. 'slideshow fix restore point'), and click on
'create'. Wait a minute, and click on 'Close' when your system
is ready.

Then, double-click on 'slideshowfix.reg', and click on 'Yes' when
it prompts you.

At this point, test the slideshow feature by inserting a CD with
images on it. If you still experience the same behavior (i.e. nothing
happens when 'View a slideshow' is selected), you should undo your
changes.

You can undo the changes by going into System Restore and choosing
'Restore my computer to an earlier time'. After doing that, click
'Next',highlight the restore you made earlier, and click next again.
Finally, read the instructions, and click 'Next' one last time. Your
computer will be restored & rebooted.

I hope this helps.
