Auto Lock w/o Screensaver

R

Richard

In Win2K, on a PC in a domain environment.
If you select a screensaver and click "Password
Protected" the system will Auto-Lock after the wait time
expires and the screesaver kicks in.

Is there any way for the Auto-Lock feature to be enabled
without having a screensaver set up? or does a user have
to manually lock the PC?

Thanks!

I am not sure what you are getting at but the screensaver is to protect the view of
the users computer screen. You can create a shortcut on the desktop to lock a
computer if that would help as described in the KB link below. I believe the
resource kit also has a "clear" screensaver option for those that may want to keep
the screen available when the computer locks.--- Steve

Not sure if this is what your after but:

If the screen saver is not enabled and no screen saver is specified in the group policy the system will still be locked when using the policy option you are talking about, it will use the default windows screen saver.
