Auto Workstation Lockout

How can it be set up to automatically lock the workstation
after a certain amount of time, rather than using the
password protection for the screensaver?

Automatically locking the workstation is done through the screensaver.
Under Windows NT, 2000, XP and 2003, a locking screensaver does not have its
own password like it did under Windows 9x. It locks the console and
requires the user's authentication (or that of an administrator) to unlock.

You can do this:
RUN-->gpedit.msc. User Configuration/Administrative
Template/Control Panel/Display

Activate Screen Saver = Enabled
Password Protect Screen Saver = Enabled
Screen Saver Time Out = Enabled (300 = 5 minutes)
